V2G Leaders Europe

Smart and bidirectional charging in light of the European Automotive Action Plan

20 November 2025 at Area42 in Brussels, Belgium
Summit, Workshops, Exhibition and Poster Session

Join Europe’s foremost innovators and institutions — including the European Commission, DG ENER, DG CNECT, DG MOVE, DG RTD, D4E, STF and Task53 — for a pivotal summit shaping the future of mobility and energy.

Why It Matters

As Europe accelerates its shift to a low-carbon energy system, smart and bidirectional charging emerges as a game-changer — enabling electric vehicles to serve not only as transport but also as mobile energy assets. These technologies promise cost savings for consumers, flexibility for grid operators, and vital support for system stability.

Anchored in the European Commission’s Automotive Action Plan, this event highlights the urgent need for enabling policies and interoperable standards. It also aligns with the work of the Smart Energy Expert Group in advancing digitalised, flexible energy systems.

What to expect

V2G Leaders Europe brings together key players from the automotive, energy, and digital sectors to tackle regulatory, technical, and market challenges. Through high-level panels, expert dialogues, and collaborative workshops, participants will co-create strategies to accelerate vehicle-to-grid integration and unleash the potential of EVs as dynamic grid resources.

This one-day event is hosted in partnership with IEA Task 53, the Sustainable Transport Forum, Digital4Energy, and EU Cloud-Edge IoT pilots — forming a powerful platform for cross-sector exchange and innovation.

For CEI-Sphere, V2G represents the growing convergence of the energy, mobility, and digital ecosystems. It underscores the critical role of CEI systems in achieving cross-sectoral outcomes. The V2G Leaders’ Summit embodies CEI-Sphere’s mission to facilitate the open, interoperable, and standards-based approaches that effectively manage the complexity of modern systems — across cloud-edge deployments — while unlocking real value through junctions such as bidirectional charging.

Task 53 is proud to be an active partner of the upcoming V2G Leaders. We see this new event as an excellent opportunity to establish a central platform for all EU countries — to provide an annual update on the progress, challenges, and opportunities of V2G technology. This platform will help accelerate the translation of new EU regulations and opportunities — such as sandbox frameworks for V2G — into actionable measures at national levels. In doing so, domestic EV industries and distribution system operators (DSOs) can be supported in preparing for the transformational impact of electric vehicles on the grid.
